Getting Involved
There are lots of ways for members of UWHG to be actively involved in practical projects and other activities. Of course, we have a regular programme of walks, talks and visits. No prior experience is necessary unless specifically stated and a friendly welcome is guaranteed. To offer help, or to find out more, contact the committee member whose name appears at the end of each section.

Projects
There are a number of projects that might interest you, including documentary research; field surveys of medieval and prehistoric settlement sites and historic industrial sites including lead and coal mining. You can find the details here.
Become a Committee Member
Elections to the committee take place every year at the Annual General Meeting, in March. Potential new committee members are invited to attend a few meetings to see for themselves how the committee works. We are a friendly, welcoming bunch and new members are not dropped in at the deep end; time is allowed until the new person finds their feet and decides what jobs they want to take on. Coffee and biscuits are always on the agenda and we have a lot of laughs. You need to be an active member of the group, with some time to spare to devote to the myriad of tasks that need to be done to keep things running.
